Homeless Offender Charged with Murder in San Francisco

Prosecutors are preparing to charge a homeless individual with murder following the identification of 38-year-old Jessica Alejandra Sanchez Landaverde, who was found bludgeoned to death in her home.

Cassidy Allen, aged 45, is facing one count of murder, along with first-degree burglary and the additional charge that the homicide occurred during a first-degree robbery, as stated by San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins.

Newly filed court documents reveal that on November 23, around 2:52 p.m., officers from the San Francisco Police Department responded to a robbery report on the 200 block of Granada Avenue, where the suspect had fled the scene.

Upon arrival, the officers spoke with a resident who reported hearing someone lock the door from inside as she ran to her car out of fear. Just thinking about that must have been terrifying for her.

Before entering the unit, officers noticed an open window near the front door, with the interior blinds askew. Strangely, the front door itself appeared unbroken.

Once inside, an officer saw the bedroom door slightly ajar. Pushing it open, he discovered the victim lying on the floor near the foot of the bed, positioned with her head facing the door.

Allen was arrested later during an unrelated welfare check at 19th Street and Sloat Boulevard when officers recognized a man who matched the suspect’s description. He was taken into custody without any issues and booked into the county jail early the following Monday morning.

According to neighbors, Sanchez-Landaverde was quite private, with many expressing unfamiliarity with her despite knowing most other residents. One neighbor indicated he had noticed Allen “wandering around the neighborhood” shortly before the incident.

A review of court records by the California Post showed that Allen was part of a diversion program, despite having prior arrests for serious offenses, including second-degree robbery, assault, and possession of burglary tools.

Prosecutors have indicated they plan to keep Allen detained before trial, citing concerns for public safety.

The investigation into Sanchez-Landaverde’s murder is still ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to contact the SFPD’s tip line at 415-575-4444 or to send a text message to TIP411, starting with “SFPD.”
