Daniel Jones’ Fractured Fibula Revealed
It turns out that Daniel Jones’ leg injury is more serious than what was first believed. According to reports from the NFL Network, the Indianapolis Colts quarterback is currently dealing with a fractured fibula.
Originally thought to be a calf issue, the Colts clarified last week that the real problem was in his fibula. Nevertheless, this issue didn’t stop him from playing last weekend against the Kansas City Chiefs.
From the start, it was clear that Jones wasn’t at his best. He posted a disappointing season-low of 181 passing yards, and his completion rate of 61.3% was also the lowest this season.
During a media session on Wednesday, Jones revealed that he’s receiving treatment for the injury. He admitted he wasn’t sure when he got hurt but reassured everyone that he will be “okay” for the upcoming game against the Houston Texans.
Interestingly, Jones had been part of MVP conversations early in the season after leading the Colts to a surprising 7-1 record, winning the starting role from Anthony Richardson during training camp. In his first eight games, he tallied 13 touchdown passes and ran for four more, alongside just three interceptions. His passing yard total stood at 2,062, with a completion percentage of 71.2%.
However, the last few games haven’t been as smooth for the Colts, who have lost two out of their last three matches. In those outings, Jones has thrown four interceptions, three of which came against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In a dramatic twist, the Colts were leading 20-9 in the fourth quarter against the Chiefs but ultimately lost 23-20 in overtime after Kansas City scored 14 unanswered points.
Now, the question remains: how much will Jones’ injury affect his performance against the tough Texans defense? His practice session on Thursday may provide some hints, but it’ll be a wait-and-see situation.
