BOSTON — Rangers Find Success with Another Sweep

Just days after a successful road trip, the Rangers continued their momentum with a second consecutive sweep.

Facing two tough Eastern Conference teams this week, they edged the Hurricanes by just one point on Wednesday, then secured their third straight win with a decisive 6-2 victory over the Bruins at TD Garden on Friday. It’s worth noting that the Bruins played without key players like David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy, which undoubtedly impacted their performance. Still, it’s quite impressive for the Rangers to achieve this win against a top contender in the conference.

If the Rangers had struggled against these wounded teams, it would have been a disappointing outcome for their fans.

In a somewhat tough matchup, they managed to overpower a Bruins lineup that, honestly, felt more like an exhibition squad. Boston didn’t really get going until Casey Mittelstadt scored in the third period amid some confusion around the net.

But shortly after, just 1 minute and 42 seconds later, Morgan Geekie turned things around by delivering a well-placed shot from Henri Jokiharju, which narrowed the gap to just two points.

Despite a bit of a lull in the final stretch where the Rangers appeared to lose a bit of steam, they managed to finish strong. After Alexis Lafreniere sealed the win with an empty-net goal, Vincent Trocheck’s shot was deflected, increasing the lead to four points.

During the second period, the Rangers dominated the shots, forcing Bruins goalie Joonas Korpisalo to fend off 17 attempts while the home team barely registered five shots.

Boston struggled with penalties, including a double minor issued to Hampus Lindholm, which opened the door for the Rangers. This opportunity allowed Mika Zibanejad to net two quick goals, establishing a 4-0 lead before the second intermission.

The Rangers capitalized on the Bruins’ early missteps. Just minutes into the game, Will Quill stole the puck from Jonathan Aspiroto and quickly set up Artemi Panarin, transitioning smoothly into the action.

Panarin, who was the standout with four points, skillfully scored his third goal in four games, finding a way to get one past Korpisalo for a 1-0 lead.

Overall, the Rangers maintained constant pressure, holding onto the puck and orchestrating several good plays in the first period. Although the Bruins believed they had potential goals, one was immediately waved off due to goalie interference during an aggressive play from Riley Tufte.

Carson Soucy then managed to score a one-timer at 12:02, putting the Rangers ahead 2-0 as they headed into the first intermission.
