Meghan Markle Faces Criticism for Cooking Error
Meghan Markle, 44, has caught the attention of online critics who have playfully dubbed her “Salmonella Sussex” following a mishap while preparing a Thanksgiving turkey.
In a brief Instagram clip, Markle showcased a raw turkey that she had seasoned and garnished with lemon zest.
She captioned the post, accompanied by Bob Dylan’s “Turkey Chase,” with, “Let the ‘game’ begin 🦃 Got it? #momjoke.”
However, viewers weren’t shy about pointing out that Markle wore her jewelry throughout the turkey preparation, raising concerns over hygiene. One commenter lamented, “Meghan, what’s going on here with ‘Salmonella Sussex’?!”
Another user expressed disbelief, saying, “I don’t know anyone who wears rings or bracelets when handling food, especially turkey. It definitely spreads germs.”
One reaction noted, “Oh my god, that’s really disgusting. I didn’t realize it until you pointed it out.”
Another person critiqued her skills, stating, “It shows she has no idea what she’s doing.” A different commentator remarked, “When I see people cooking with their jewelry on, it makes me sick.”
Concerns were raised about cross-contamination, with a tweet stating, “Poultry needs to be handled with care and hands washed frequently to avoid cross-contamination. Too bad.”
Prior to Thanksgiving, Markle shared her family’s holiday plans through a newsletter connected to her As Ever Lifestyle Brand, where she expressed gratitude for support over the past year.
She reflected, “From my family to yours, I wish you a very happy Thanksgiving… I feel a sense of gratitude.”
Markle conveyed the significance of small moments and shared experiences, emphasizing the warmth of family and celebrations during the season.
