Josh Brolin Calls Trump a Marketing Genius, Shares Perspectives
During a recent interview, actor Josh Brolin referred to Donald Trump as a “marketing genius” but dismissed the notion that he would extend his time in office beyond the current term. Brolin expressed confidence, stating, “I’m not scared of Trump… If it happens, I’ll deal with it in the moment.” He recounted knowing Trump before the presidency, commenting on their past friendship.
Brolin recalled meeting Trump while promoting the film “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.” He described Trump as someone interested in undertaking significant ventures, such as building a hotel in a problematic area in the late ’70s, remarking on the unregulated nature of electricity at that time.
“There’s no greater marketing genius than him,” Brolin said. “He recognizes public weaknesses and capitalizes on them. Perhaps that’s why many see him as a kind of mascot. It seems more about how the public seeks validation rather than Trump himself.”
Brolin had previously criticized Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign, expressing his refusal to accept Trump as an embodiment of American masculinity. He condemned a culture of hatred and conspiracy, emphasizing that America’s foundation shouldn’t rely on such elements. He highlighted Trump’s many documented lies, suggesting that forgiveness stems from appealing to a demographic struggling with their identity.
In the same interview, Brolin discussed his role as Monsignor Wicks in the upcoming film “Wake Up Deadman: Knives Out Mystery.” He noted that while aspects of his character might echo traits associated with power, they were not directly inspired by Trump.
“You can create a character that embodies elements like Trumpian greed,” he mentioned, “but in essence, Wicks’ power knows no boundaries.”
The film features a cast that includes Daniel Craig and Glenn Close, alongside Brolin.
