Kiffin’s Move to LSU Draws Mixed Reactions
Boxer Jake Paul recently criticized Lane Kiffin after the college football coach opted to accept the head coaching position at LSU, leaving the Ole Miss Rebels. This decision came shortly after Ole Miss triumphed over Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl, securing a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Paul took to social media to express his opinion, saying, “Lane Kiffin, my God, you did such an L thing. I feel bad for the players…” His comment reflects the sentiments of some fans who believe Kiffin’s move was not in the best interest of the team at this crucial time.
Interestingly, Ole Miss players didn’t seem too upset about Kiffin’s departure. Offensive lineman Brycen Sanders expressed excitement regarding Pete Golding’s promotion from defensive coordinator to head coach in a post on social media platform X, stating, “LFG! @KeithCarterOM Best AD in the nation. I couldn’t be more excited to play for Coach Golding.”
Kiffin later released a statement addressing his decision. He mentioned that, initially, he intended to finish the season with Ole Miss but was denied that opportunity by the athletic director, Keith Carter.
“After much prayer and time with my family, I have made the difficult decision to accept the head coaching position at LSU,” Kiffin shared. He expressed a desire to lead Ole Miss through the playoffs and highlighted his commitment to the team and its success over the years.
Kiffin reflected on his time at Ole Miss, noting that despite the abrupt ending, he cherishes the six seasons spent coaching the Rebels. He aims to support the team in their quest for a championship as they transition into this next chapter.
Under Kiffin’s guidance, Ole Miss achieved an impressive record of 55-19 across 74 games, including two seasons with 11 wins each since he took over in 2020.
