Former Biden Aide Sparks Controversy with Trump Comment
Megan Hayes, who once donned an Easter bunny costume while serving as a special assistant to President Joe Biden, ignited a heated discussion on social media this past Sunday. She made a post on X claiming that “Donald Trump is aging rapidly.” This statement quickly triggered a wave of responses, reminding people of her attempt to shield Biden from reporters during a notable 2022 incident.
Critics resurfaced a video where Hayes, in her bunny outfit, interrupted Biden, steering him away from questions posed by the press. Newsweek pointed out her involvement in that Easter Egg Roll moment, identifying her as the one playing the bunny. This role brought her both recognition and a bit of scorn.
In her tweet, Hayes asserted, “This is an undeniable fact: Donald Trump is rapidly aging, and that should concern us all.”

Conservative commentator Stephen L. Miller weighed in, reminding the public of Hayes’ significant role in the administration. “It was Megan Hayes who wore the bunny costume. This wasn’t just some random intern trying to distract Joe Biden,” he emphasized. “She was literally a special adviser to the president and in charge of planning messages to the media.”

During the 2022 episode, reporters described her as the “Easter Bunny” limiting Biden’s responses to press inquiries. Steven Nelson, a White House correspondent for the New York Post, remarked, “Meghan Hayes appears to be the Easter Bunny censoring Biden’s attempts to answer reporters’ questions today.”

Hayes had previously mentioned her experience as the Easter Bunny during a 2021 White House briefing, indicating that her ties to that role had begun well before it became a topic of discussion. According to reports, Hayes is set to leave the White House at the end of 2022.
As of now, Hayes has not publicly addressed the backlash stemming from her Twitter remarks.
