Missing Connecticut Teens Rescued from Trafficking Situation

Three teenage girls who went missing during a sleepover in Connecticut have been found and rescued by their families from a troubling sex trafficking ring, as reported by local authorities.

The 14-year-olds had returned to a Hartford home after attending a friend’s sleepover on May 1, but police say they were assaulted by a 19-year-old named Donovan Dunn, along with four other individuals.

After their initial ordeal, the girls were taken to another location and then to a Super 8 motel, where they faced further assault by two more men. It was at this point that a 36-year-old, Ahmad Compton, arrived and allegedly raped the girls, telling them he would take them to a job. He then transported them to an apartment on Nelton Way.

Over the next three days, the girls were subjected to various substances, including alcohol and drugs. It was during this time that their families, realizing they were missing, began actively searching for them.

Ultimately, the girls were able to be rescued after a witness reported seeing one of them in Compton’s apartment.

Following their rescue, the girls were taken to Connecticut Children’s Hospital for evaluation. In connection with this case, seven men have now been arrested. They face multiple charges, including sexual assault, kidnapping, and unlawful sexual contact with a minor.

One of the girls described her experience during this time as “a fun sickening experience,” which reflects a troubling mixture of emotions the young victims faced.

Hartford State’s Attorney Shermeese Wolcott emphasized the severe impact of these crimes on not only the victims but also their families and communities, stating, “This is a reminder that human trafficking does happen and is devastating when it does occur.”

Crystal Rich, director of the Connecticut Children’s Alliance, stressed the importance for families to monitor their children’s activities online. “Many of these cases start with online grooming,” she noted, calling on communities to remain vigilant and proactive in identifying warning signs.
