President Donald Trump has urged supporters in Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District to back Republican candidate Matt Van Epps in the ongoing special election. Trump described Van Epps as an incredible candidate and a “MAGA warrior” who he believes will excel in Congress.
On his platform, Trump stated that Van Epps appreciates Christianity and country music, implying that his opponent does not share these values. “He would be a great congressman and values Christianity and country music, unlike his opponent, who professes to dislike both!” Trump wrote.
“I ask all America First Patriots in Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District to vote for our phenomenal candidate and MAGA warrior, Matt Van Epps. You can win this election, Matt, who has my full and complete support,” Trump shared.
As early voting progresses, Van Epps expressed his excitement about receiving Trump’s endorsement and voiced confidence in his chances of winning.
“This is America’s first issue,” Trump emphasized. “The margin in Congress is very narrow. This is the direction we want to move the country in. And we want to move in an America first direction. That’s what we’re going to do.”
Van Epps is contending against Democratic state Representative Aftin Behn to fill the vacancy left by former Rep. Mark Green (R-Tenn.).
