King Charles III Revokes Prince Andrew’s Titles

King Charles III is preparing to revoke the last royal titles of his brother, Prince Andrew, including his membership in the Order of the Garter and the Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order. Experts are suggesting that, though delayed, this decision is nonetheless a necessary one.

Royal commentator Hilary Fordwich shared her thoughts, indicating it would have been ideal to act sooner but stressing that it’s “better late than never.” This move also signals that Prince William is gaining influence.

The removal of titles was confirmed this week by the UK’s official public record. It stated that the King has annulled Andrew’s titles, which were first granted in 2006 and 2011, respectively. Andrew’s name will be taken off the official rolls.

Earlier this year, the palace made the announcement that Prince Andrew would be stripped of his “Prince Andrew style, title and honor” due to serious allegations linked to Jeffrey Epstein. From now on, he will simply be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, no longer carrying the title of prince.

The palace’s October statement also noted that Andrew’s tenancy at Royal Lodge had legally protected his residence, but a formal termination of that agreement has been served, meaning he must find alternative housing soon.

While Andrew continues to deny the allegations against him, the palace maintains that these actions were necessary. They emphasized their commitment to supporting victims of abuse.

Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner remarked that there isn’t much sympathy for Andrew within the royal family. He noted that King Charles may have kept Andrew nearby out of loyalty and a desire to prevent any further unpleasant revelations.

Andrew’s children, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, will retain their royal titles despite their father losing his. Commentator Meredith Constant mentioned that the timing of this announcement could hardly be better, especially with recent controversies surrounding the royal family and Andrew’s need to move out.

This decision comes in the wake of serious accusations against Andrew, including claims made by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who alleged that he compelled her into sexual acts when she was a minor. Giuffre tragically passed away earlier this year.
