Texas A&M Student Found Dead; Mother Questions Circumstances
The mother of a Texas A&M University student, who was discovered dead following an incident with a reckless driver, is raising concerns about the situation surrounding her daughter’s death. Brianna Aguilera, 19, was found at 12:47 a.m. Saturday at the 21 Rio Apartments in Austin, Texas, shortly after the Texas A&M vs. University of Texas football game. Austin police have stated that her death is not viewed as a homicide and that no criminal actions are suspected. However, her mother, Stephanie Rodriguez, contests this narrative, asserting that the police indicated her daughter had fallen from the 17th floor, describing it as either an accident or a suicide, a conclusion she vehemently disagrees with.
In an interview, Rodriguez revealed that Aguilera’s cell phone was discovered in a friend’s handbag that had been left in the woods. “In the end, my daughter’s cell phone was found in a friend’s handbag, which was abandoned in the forest,” she remarked.
Rodriguez expressed her suspicion and fear for her daughter. “This wasn’t a coincidence. Someone killed my little Bree and gave a whole group of friends a lot of time to come up with the same story,” she stated, adding that her daughter had no intention of jumping off a building and labeled the idea of suicide as “insane.”
She also explained that there had been an altercation between her daughter and another girl prior to the incident. “There was a fight between my daughter and another girl, and they all lived in the same apartment complex that I was actually texting, and the detective ignored it,” Rodriguez detailed.
Rodriguez expressed her confusion over why many in the apartment complex left quickly after the incident. “Why did some of my friends leave so quickly and the people living in the apartment complex immediately vacate their apartments?” she questioned on social media. She became suspicious further when she noted her daughter’s phone was on Do Not Disturb mode. “We always had a rule that if she went out, she had to turn her location on,” she said. “That stopped happening around 6 p.m.”
She theorized that either someone might have pushed her off the balcony, or that her daughter may have fallen due to intoxication. “I think either someone pushed her off the balcony or she tends to do that when she drinks,” Rodriguez suggested, emphasizing that her daughter’s small frame made it difficult for her to handle alcohol.
Austin Police stated that there is no evidence to indicate any suspicious or criminal circumstances related to Aguilera’s death. They assured that every loss in the community is taken seriously and that investigations are ongoing. The Travis County Medical Examiner’s office noted that the autopsy results may take over 90 days.
