FBI Official Denies Allegations Against Director Patel
A senior official at the FBI is contesting a report from MS NOW claiming that FBI Director Kash Patel had instructed a security detail to drive a drunken friend home after a night out in Nashville. The report alleges that this occurred several times.
FBI Deputy Director for Public Affairs, Ben Williamson, refuted the allegations in a post on X, openly criticizing the journalists involved. He stated, “1000% false and nothing happened,” and expressed a desire to shed light on how such an exaggerated claim was published.
Williamson mentioned he first learned of the allegations on Tuesday, describing them as sounding like a hoax. After consulting those mentioned, including Alexis—who reportedly does not drink—the director, and the security detail, he couldn’t find any supporting evidence or records.
He approached the reporter from MS NOW to request the source of the claim, hoping to provide evidence to counter it. In response, MS NOW allegedly said they did not have that information but felt confident in their findings.
Williamson’s comments were in reply to a post by Ken Dilanian, a correspondent for MS NOW involved in the story.
The MS NOW report indicated that there had been instances where SWAT officers were assigned to escort Patel’s girlfriend, who had reportedly been drinking, home. This incident was presented as part of a broader pattern of misusing FBI resources. Notably, Patel is the first FBI director to grant a security detail to a partner, though a previous director’s spouse received protection while traveling with him.
In past interviews, Patel has denied any misuse of funds or government resources. He emphasized his right to a private life, stating, “Would I support my girlfriend? Of course. Would I travel with her? Absolutely.” He pointed out that discussions about FBI resources being misused were unfounded, as the FBI has been achieving successes that previous leadership could not.
Fox News Digital has reached out to MS NOW for comments regarding the report.
