Kennedy Center Honors Celebrates Entertainment Legends
President Donald Trump hosted a star-studded event for the opening of the 48th Kennedy Center Honors on Sunday, gathering actors, country music icons, and prominent figures from the entertainment world.
Notable attendees included Sylvester Stallone, George Strait, and Kelsey Grammer, all of whom walked the red carpet at the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C.
The recipients were awarded their medals in a ceremony held in the Oval Office on Saturday, with many noting that this group is among the “most distinguished” in the center’s history.
Kelsey Grammer Commends Trump at Ceremony
At the event, Kelsey Grammer praised Trump, calling him “one of the greatest presidents ever.” Accompanied by his daughter Faith, he expressed admiration for Trump’s accomplishments and potential.
“I think he’s an extraordinary person. One of the greatest presidents we’ve ever had, maybe even the greatest,” he remarked, reflecting on Trump’s ongoing goals.
Sylvester Stallone, recognized for his iconic role in “Rocky,” attended with his wife, Jennifer Flavin, while George Strait sported his signature cowboy hat as he walked the red carpet with his wife, Norma.
Andrea Bocelli also made headlines with a spontaneous performance during his visit to the White House, showing off his impressive musical career.
Other celebrities included Gloria Gaynor, dazzling in a sparkling pink dress, and Gene Simmons from KISS, who rocked his trademark dark shades alongside his wife, Shannon Tweed.
Grammer, who had a role in selecting the honorees, expressed his joy for Stallone being honored, calling him a “force of nature” whose performances have left a lasting impact. “I was on the selection committee, so I knew that,” he added while sharing his excitement.
“I was really happy for him. It was about time,” Grammer said about Stallone’s recognition, emphasizing the star’s influence and talent.
The event ended with Trump presenting the new award design, created by Tiffany & Co., a gold disc depicting images associated with the Kennedy Center, adding a special touch to the evening’s celebrations.
