Tragic Case of Florida Teen Murder
The mother of Danica Troy, a 14-year-old who was tragically murdered in Florida, believes her daughter was lured into the woods by a boy who had a romantic interest in her. Ashley Troy stated that 16-year-old Gabriel Williams acted as if he had feelings for Danica, which led her to trust him and follow him into a forested area where she was later attacked.
Ashley explained, “That’s how she was seduced.” Both Williams and 14-year-old Kimari Blevins now face charges of first-degree premeditated murder in connection with Danica’s death.
Ashley is still searching for answers, wondering why this happened to her daughter, who, she noted, just wanted to experience love.
Danica went missing on December 1, and her body was discovered the following day in a wooded area in Pace. Authorities reported that she had been shot multiple times and then set on fire. The suspects were quickly identified; both had known Danica from school.
Initially, detectives thought the incident might relate to a dispute on social media arising from the Thanksgiving holiday. Reportedly, the boys claimed that Danica was targeted after blocking Blevins on social media and calling Williams a “worthless gangbanger.” However, Ashley dismissed their explanation as merely an excuse.
Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson confirmed Danica’s identity and mentioned that investigators swiftly focused on the two suspects, who had previous encounters with law enforcement—though details about these incidents remain undisclosed due to their ages.
Mr. Johnson described the situation starkly, noting the seriousness of the crime committed by teenagers. He said, “It’s bad enough to kill a 14-year-old. You’re 14-years-old. You’re 16-years-old. They shot her multiple times and then they set her on fire.” However, the exact motive behind the murder is still unclear, as the accounts provided by the suspects do not align with forensic evidence.
Both Williams and Blevins are currently being held without bail on first-degree murder charges, with discussions ongoing about whether to try them as adults. Ashley expressed her belief that “evil influences” were at play in her daughter’s murder, emphasizing her desire for full accountability: “All I want is for them to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office has yet to respond to inquiries for further comment.
