In-N-Out Burger Ditches “67” Amid Viral Meme Frenzy

In-N-Out Burger has officially eliminated the number “67” from its ordering system following the viral sensation of the “6-7” meme, which reportedly saw crowds of teens flocking to the locations.

Employees in Los Angeles revealed this change on Tuesday, noting the number was removed last month. This announcement came after videos circulated online showing exuberant teens celebrating when the number was called. One employee was even caught on camera explaining, “The 67 is being taken out of our system, so every time we take an order, it goes from a 66 to a 68 because of people like you.”

Interestingly, the number “69” was also removed for similar reasons, as pointed out by a staff member. It’s worth mentioning that the trend is influenced by a song from rapper Skrilla called “Doot Doot (6 7),” which gained traction after Charlotte Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball referenced it in connection to his height.

As it stands, the “6-7” phenomenon kicks off whenever the digits 6 or 7 appear. In response, excited teens shout “6-7!” while gesturing with their hands, which adds a certain visual flair to the whole thing. Earlier this month, Dictionary.com even named “6-7” its word of the year for 2025, highlighting how today’s slang meshes digital humor, sports culture, and youthful creativity.

Dr. Steve Johnson, a lexicography expert, described it as a blend of inside jokes and social signaling, saying: “When people say it, they’re not just repeating a meme; they’re expressing a sentiment. It unifies people long before the true meaning settles in.”
