McCoy Blames Eagles Offensive Coordinator for Team’s Struggles

LeSean McCoy, a former star for the Philadelphia Eagles, has expressed his frustrations over his old team’s offensive performance and is pointing fingers at the offensive coordinator, Kevin Pattullo. Despite the Eagles holding an 8-5 record, their offense has not been up to par.

In a recent game, quarterback Jalen Hurts had a particularly rough outing, committing five turnovers in a nail-biting 22-19 overtime defeat against the Los Angeles Chargers. This loss marked the Eagles’ third consecutive setback.

Interestingly, McCoy feels that Pattullo deserves the lion’s share of the blame—not Hurts. On the Speakeasy podcast, he made a bold declaration: “If he comes back, I’m leaving the Eagles.” McCoy, who holds a special place in Eagles history with his retired number 25, seems unbothered by the potential repercussions of his comments regarding Pattullo’s future.

McCoy didn’t mince words, suggesting that if Pattullo remains into the next season, he should rethink his connection to the team. He even noted, “Take it off. No one ever asked.” It’s quite the audacious stance, indicating he’s ready to step back if substantial changes aren’t made.

Despite being the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Eagles’ offensive performance has been lackluster this season. Currently, they rank 24th in rushing yards per game, a steep drop from last season when they finished eighth.

The Eagles are also struggling in points per game, sitting at 19th with an average of 22.2. Hurts received substantial support from their defense, which has helped keep the team in the playoff race, but costly turnovers have continued to hamper their efforts during crucial moments.

Fans have reacted strongly, and there are reports of extreme Eagles supporters, perhaps fueled by frustration, throwing eggs at Pattullo’s home. McCoy, while criticizing Pattullo, still expressed his support for Hurts and refrained from targeting head coach Nick Sirianni.

The Eagles have four games left in the regular season, and while they lead the NFC East, inconsistency on offense could spell trouble down the stretch. Their upcoming schedule seems favorable, featuring games against the struggling Las Vegas Raiders and Washington Commanders, as well as a matchup with the Buffalo Bills.

With Pittsburgh and other teams still vying for playoff positioning, the Eagles need to shake off these recent woes to maintain their standing. Time will tell if McCoy’s comments lead to any significant changes in the coaching team.
