Well-Known Comedian Asserts Corporate Media Appears Ridiculous for Suggesting Trump is Falling After Biden's Concealment

Adam Carolla Critiques Media’s Portrayal of Trump and Biden

On “The Adam and Dr. Drew Show” this week, comedian Adam Carolla took aim at the corporate media for attempting to depict President Donald Trump as declining, paralleling it with reports on former President Joe Biden’s own issues. He asserted that several outlets, including CNN, the New York Times, and others, suggest Trump is faltering in his second term but fail to address Biden’s similar challenges.

Carolla emphasized that these media failures undermine their credibility when it comes to critiquing Trump. He remarked that their previously uncritical reporting of Biden, who he claims is facing more severe health issues, makes them unqualified to comment on Trump’s mental state. “If you look like you have an agenda, it diminishes your reliability—CNN and the women on ‘The View’ have lost their right to comment on Trump’s decline,” Carolla stated. “You can’t just flip the script after ignoring a more severely disabled individual for years.”

He proposed that media outlets should face consequences, likening the situation to a college program facing penalties. “CNN, you’re on probation. You can’t critique the president’s cognitive abilities for the next five years,” he added.

In a report published by the New York Times on November 25, it was noted that Trump has been reducing his domestic travel and public appearances compared to earlier in his presidency, though he noted an increase in international travel and media interactions. The article, authored by Katie Rogers and Dylan Friedman, is centered around the theme of aging while in office.

During a briefing on December 1, White House press secretary Caroline Levitt defended Biden’s health, criticizing the New York Times for casting doubt on Trump’s well-being. She remarked that the Times misrepresented Trump’s performance, juxtaposing it with their earlier assertions about Biden’s health.

Levitt pointed out, “It’s a clear error to suggest Trump isn’t performing as well; this is the same paper that claimed Biden was doing perfectly well particularly after his trip while boarding Air Force One.”

In that same briefing, Levitt assured that an MRI from October confirmed Trump remains in good health overall. Former CNN anchor Jim Acosta also attempted to frame Trump as declining, claiming he no longer holds rallies; however, Trump had recently held a rally in Pennsylvania coinciding with Acosta’s comments.

The media, according to Carolla and Levitt, has for years overlooked Biden’s decline, especially with the looming debate against Trump in June 2024. It seems that, perhaps, transparency and impartiality in reporting is a tough balance to maintain.
