Florida Man Claims He “Teleported” into Stolen BMW Before Crashing
A man in Florida, Calvin Curtis Johnson, 36, crashed a stolen BMW while allegedly going over 100 mph. When authorities found him bloodied and disoriented near the wreck, he made an unusual claim. Body camera footage shows him telling officers that he “teleported” into the car.
In the video, Johnson struggled to explain how he ended up driving the stolen vehicle. “I don’t know how I got into the car. It was teleportation or something,” he told a Volusia County sheriff’s deputy, repeating his assertion when asked again.
According to deputies, Johnson stole the BMW from Bicentennial Park in Ormond Beach. The car’s owner had reportedly left the keys in a closed cup holder while taking a walk with his dog.
Witnesses at the park said they saw a confused man enter the car. One of them recalled, “He kept asking for light. I thought, how do you have a BMW when you don’t even have a cigarette lighter?”
After the crash, witnesses reported that the BMW reached speeds of 130 mph before hitting something, and rescuers had to help Johnson out of the wreckage.
As onlookers reacted with disbelief, some shouted at Johnson before walking away. When the deputy cuffed him, he exclaimed, “You saved me from aliens!”
Johnson was later taken to the hospital and will face charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle and driving with a suspended license. Authorities urged drivers to remember to lock their cars while enjoying local parks.
