University of Michigan Fires Head Coach Sherone Moore

Dave Portnoy, a notable supporter of the University of Michigan, reacted to the termination of head football coach Sherone Moore with a series of social media posts. He expressed pride in how the university handled the situation.

Moore was let go on Wednesday after an investigation revealed he maintained an “inappropriate relationship with an employee.”

The university stated, “This conduct clearly violates university policy, and UM has no tolerance for such conduct,” confirming his dismissal.

Initially, Portnoy made light of the decision. However, as reports emerged about Moore’s police detention in Michigan—and potential charges—his tone shifted. He is currently being held at the Washtenaw County Jail.

Details about the specific charges he may face remain unclear.

Portnoy later remarked, “On a serious note, many schools have ignored scandals over the years.” He commended Michigan for upholding its standards, stating, “Cherone broke the moral code, and it cost him his job. It’s a tough lesson, but this is the Michigan Manway. Tonight, I’m proud to be a Michigan Wolverine.”

He also previously shared a humorous video about the situation.

Portnoy quipped, “If you’re going to have an affair with an employee at Michigan State, you better beat Ohio State and get to the playoffs. That’s the standard at Michigan State.”

As events unfolded, the situation surrounding Moore grew more complicated with his custody being confirmed.

Biff Poggi has been named the interim head coach for Michigan, which is set to compete against Texas in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Eve following Moore’s dismissal.
