Melania Trump hints at new legislative effort following the approval of anti-revenge porn law

On Thursday night, Melania Trump, the First Lady, called on Congress to support upcoming legislative initiatives expected to be introduced next year.

Speaking briefly at the Congressional Ball held at the White House, she highlighted the success of her advocacy for the Take It Down Act. This legislation aims to prohibit the distribution of non-consensual intimate images, which includes AI-generated pornography featuring real faces.

“As the President noted, our biggest accomplishment in the First Lady’s office for 2025 is the Takedown Act. Thank you for your support,” she remarked, dressed in a chic black velvet tuxedo and lace top. “We truly appreciate the strong bipartisan support we received in both the House and Senate. Thank you, Speaker Johnson,” she continued.

She expressed hope that lawmakers would also support her new initiative set for 2026, hinting that planning is already in progress.

Even President Trump seemed surprised by her announcement. “It’s the first I’m hearing of it. All I can say is it will be great for the kids. I don’t know exactly what she’s doing, but she adores kids, so it’s likely to have broad support,” he commented.

The Take It Down Act was signed into law by Donald Trump in May, marking one of the earliest significant legislative achievements in his second term.

In March, Melania conducted a rare visit to the Capitol to garner support for Congressional confirmation.

Senator Ted Cruz introduced the legislation, which was passed unanimously in the Senate, with the House approving it by a significant margin before sending it to the President.

After the bill’s approval, Trump handed Melania a pen to sign, stating that she should officially endorse it as she deserves that recognition. He remarked, “America is fortunate to have such a devoted first lady.”

Melania is reportedly set to become the first first lady to co-sign a bill with a sitting president.

When the bill was introduced, Melania commented that it represented a significant step toward protecting all Americans, particularly the youth, from image abuse and identity misuse.

She also pointed out that “AI and social media are the new digital candy—sweet, addictive, and capable of shaping children’s connections.” However, she warned that these technologies could be misused, influencing beliefs and affecting emotions.
