NFL Team Reporter Faces Consequences Over Comments
The unspoken rule of a team charter is to keep discussions about it under wraps.
Recently, Will Boling, a radio host at Nashville’s 104.5 The Zone, found himself in a bit of hot water regarding his coverage of the NFL.
After the Titans secured a win against the Browns on December 7, a sideline reporter shared that defensive end Arden Key humorously urged his teammates via intercom to disregard harsh comments made by rookie quarterback Cam Ward in the postgame.
Boling’s reported removal from the team charter stemmed from previous issues, as Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky noted.
However, Boling didn’t acknowledge this during his appearance on Thursday’s episode with former NFL player Ramon Foster, where he discussed how he handled the situation.
“I want to apologize for sharing details that really should have been kept private and off the record,” Boling stated. “I completely get that team planes and buses are special spaces for everyone involved. I take full responsibility for my actions. By disclosing information I shouldn’t have, I’ve damaged the trust with the team, and I intend to work on rebuilding that.” He expressed his sincere regrets over the matter.
The Titans have yet to comment on the situation.
This season has been a challenging one for Boling, who is navigating his first year as the team’s sideline reporter. Notably, the Titans’ radio team has also experienced significant changes this year, including play-by-play commentator Taylor Salzoer now leading the broadcasts.
Ward managed to throw two touchdowns during the Titans’ close 31-29 win at Cleveland.
Finding positive news for the struggling Titans, who stand at 2-11, isn’t easy, and it’s likely to stay tough heading into the last stretch of the season.
They have a game against the 9-4 49ers in San Francisco this Sunday, followed by home games against the Chiefs and Saints, before concluding the season against the AFC South-leading Jaguars.
