Passenger Detained After Attempting to Open Aircraft Door

A passenger was apprehended while trying to open a door on a Cathay Pacific flight that was leaving from Boston, as reported by authorities.

The airline confirmed to officials that this incident, involving a suspected attempt to open the aircraft door, happened on flight CX811 heading to Hong Kong on Wednesday. The cabin crew responded swiftly to ensure the door was securely closed and notified the relevant authorities and police.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the crew or passengers, and the flight landed safely at Hong Kong International Airport in the early hours of December 11, 2025.

Cathay Pacific mentioned that the case has been turned over to the police for further investigation. They emphasized that the safety of their customers and crew is paramount in all their decisions.

According to the Hong Kong police, the individual involved, a 20-year-old man from mainland China, was arrested early Thursday under suspicion of breaching aviation security regulations.

This isn’t an isolated case; back in November, a KLM flight from Atlanta faced delays after an unruly passenger allegedly opened an emergency exit door while the plane was taxiing, triggering a security alert at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Earlier this year, a U.S. Marine on a flight returning from Tokyo intervened when another passenger attempted to open an emergency exit door mid-flight, managing to subdue him effectively.
