Surrounded by colleagues and family, including his two-month-old daughter, Thomas Bucholz was celebrated as he received a significant recognition.

Bucholz was awarded “Police Officer of the Year” for the Midtown South Precinct, following his decisive actions in apprehending a suspect with drugs and firearms.

The NYPD officer, aged 30, received the award during the Safe Cities Safe Streets Luncheon at the Manhattan Penthouse on Thursday.

As his loved ones cheered, Bucholz, in a modest gesture, dedicated the honor to his fellow officers.

“It’s a great honor for me. This is a very large province, and I’m not the only one doing a tremendous job,” he stated before the event, reflecting on nearly a decade of service.

“Everyone there goes above and beyond for the community. We’re all there to do better for the people of Midtown, the business owners, the tourists.”

Multiple officers from various Manhattan precincts were recognized, including Jennifer Paolino, Christian Orellana, and Michael DeJesus, who were also honored as Police Officers of the Year for their respective areas.

Bucholz earned his accolade for pursuing and detaining a suspect who had fled from a serious accident in September.

The individual was found to be in possession of a significant stash of drugs and weapons, including a tainted assault rifle and a loaded handgun.

Bucholz, who welcomed his daughter Scarlett with his wife, Meghan, just two months ago, is now considering further aspirations.

“I would like to strive to become a detective someday,” he mentioned, expressing his commitment to the job he has long dreamed of.
