Assault Outside Manhattan’s Beacon Theater Leaves Long Island Man Injured
A Long Island resident, known as a “sports dad,” is recovering from a traumatic brain injury after an altercation with a street vendor outside the Beacon Theater in Manhattan. Law enforcement and family members report that Sean Llewellyn, 47, was assaulted over a $20 purchase following a concert on November 30.
According to officials, Llewellyn had just attended a show near West 75th Street when he tried to buy an item from a vendor outside the theater. After handing over $20, it appears the vendor took off without providing change.
When Llewellyn attempted to confront him, multiple individuals reportedly joined the vendor in attacking him. The severity of the assault sent Llewellyn to the hospital with injuries including a brain injury and a fractured orbital bone.
There were no reported weapons involved in the incident, per the authorities. His family shared on a GoFundMe page that he is scheduled for surgery and faces a lengthy recovery period.
“Sean is a committed family man, a proud sports dad, and a beloved ‘fun coach,'” the fundraising page states, highlighting the impact this situation has had on him and his family. The unexpected medical crisis has created financial strain, especially since he primarily supports his household, which includes three young sons.
Describing Llewellyn as a dedicated youth hockey coach and a proactive community member, the GoFundMe emphasizes the couple’s commitment to helping others. They often assist in raising funds for those in need and participate actively in church events.
“Their generosity and spirit have been an inspiration, and now, we hope the community can support them in this difficult time,” loved ones wrote.
As of now, no arrests have been made in relation to this brutal attack.
