LeBron James Leads Lakers to Narrow Victory Over Suns
On Sunday night, LeBron James sealed a thrilling 116-114 win for the Los Angeles Lakers against the Phoenix Suns with two free throws, just 3.9 seconds before the buzzer.
Even though James is nearing the end of his career, he proved he still has that competitive edge. Throughout the game, he clashed with Suns forward Dillon Brooks, escalating the intensity and resulting in several heated moments.
As the game approached its conclusion, Brooks hit a crucial three-pointer with just 12.2 seconds remaining, giving the Suns a fleeting one-point advantage. In response, James charged past Brooks, pushing him to the ground. Brooks got back up, puffed out his chest, and lightly slapped James.
The referee intervened before things could get more serious. Consequently, Brooks received an ejection from the game.
“I just love competing,” James stated regarding his rivalry with Brooks. “He’s going to compete, I’m going to compete. We’ll always challenge each other. I try not to overthink it. It’s just about competing, and we carried that spirit right through to the end.”
Suns star Devin Booker also commented on Brooks’ resilience, mentioning a history between players. “I love witnessing that. People often say the NBA is too friendly, but then Brooks comes along, and it seems excessive. I would prefer that kind of intensity over too much friendliness.”
James contributed 26 points, shooting 8-of-17 from the field, while Luka Doncic led the Lakers with 29 points and six assists, helping the team improve to 18-7 this season.
Brooks finished with 18 points in 25 minutes of play, while Booker led the Suns with 27 points, hitting an impressive 13-of-16 from the free-throw line. Currently, Phoenix holds a record of 14-12.
