Tracy Reiner, actress and daughter of Rob Reiner and Penny Marshall, is 'in shock' following her father's tragic passing.

Tragic Deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner

Tracy Reiner, the daughter of filmmaker Rob Reiner, has spoken out following the shocking discovery of her parents found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday.

At 61, Tracy was adopted by Rob during his marriage to the late Penny Marshall, which lasted a decade from 1971 to 1981.

“I come from the best family ever,” Tracy said to NBC News. “I’m really not sure how to process this right now. I’m just in shock.”

Tracy is known for her role as Betty “Betty Spaghetti” Hawn in “A League of Their Own,” a film directed by Penny, who was also married to athlete Michael Henry, Tracy’s biological father, from 1961 to 1962.

Penny and Rob had grown up as neighbors in the Bronx. In a past interview, Penny reminisced, “[We] didn’t know each other.” She shared fond sentiments, stating that she “loved him dearly.”

Penny passed away in December 2018, at 75, prompting Rob to call her “a gift” during that difficult time. “She had a natural sense of humor, and I feel so fortunate to have shared my life with her. I will truly miss her,” he expressed.

Rob, now 78, and Michele, aged 68, have three children together: Jake, Nick, and Romy Reiner.

Authorities have reported that Romy discovered her parents deceased on Sunday. Nick, 32, has become a person of interest in the investigation, as he was found with multiple wounds, including one to his throat.

According to sources, Romy indicated to investigators that her brother was “dangerous” and suggested he should be a suspect, mentioning the incident seemed to stem from a fierce argument.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton confirmed there have been no arrests yet, though investigations involving family members are ongoing. Nick, who has battled addiction for several years, is reportedly under scrutiny by authorities.

He entered rehab for the first time at just 15 years old, having faced homelessness in various states. “I spent nights on the street,” he reflected in a 2016 interview. “It was far from easy.”

Nick also co-wrote the semi-autobiographical film “Being Charlie,” which reflects his struggles, while his father directed the 2015 project.

“Experiencing those challenges shapes who I am today,” he mentioned. “I’ve been home for quite some time, getting adjusted to life in L.A. and feeling closer to my family.”

The tragic news has sent ripples through Hollywood. ABC 7 noted that Billy Crystal was seen outside Rob’s Brentwood home on the same night, with neighbors reporting that Larry David made a separate visit.

In a statement, the Reiner family expressed their deep sorrow: “We are heartbroken by the sudden death of Michele and Rob Reiner and ask for privacy during this incredibly difficult time.”
