Patrick Mahomes' mother responds to her son's message following his ACL injury

Mahomes’ Injury Update from Arrowhead Stadium

On Sunday, during a game against the Los Angeles Chargers, Patrick Mahomes suffered a torn left ACL. His mother, Randy, was present at Arrowhead Stadium when the injury occurred.

Mahomes, 30, later expressed his gratitude on social media for the supportive messages he received. Randy shared his post with her followers, adding heart and prayer emojis. “I don’t know why this happened. Honestly, it hurts,” Mahomes noted. “But right now, all we can do is trust God and keep pushing every single day.”

In a private suite at the stadium, Randy shared photos with social media personality Ross Smith and his grandmother.

Mahomes was injured during the Chiefs’ final drive when he was tackled by Chargers defensive lineman Dashawn Hand. This tackle caused his leg to twist awkwardly, resulting in injury.

The Chiefs’ medical staff assisted him off the field, where he walked back to the locker room with a towel covering his head.

According to a team statement, “Patrick and the club are currently assessing surgical options.” He is scheduled for surgery this week. Recently, he has faced persistent knee issues, and during the game, the Chargers’ defense managed to sack him five times.

This loss has eliminated the Chiefs from playoff contention for the first time since Mahomes joined the team.

In relief of Mahomes, Gardner Minshew came in but ended the game with an interception, solidifying the defeat for the Chiefs. Looking ahead, they will face the Titans in Week 16.
