Trump Associates Dispute CNN’s Claims on Wiles’ Interview
During a broadcast on Tuesday, CNN host Dana Bash reported that individuals close to President Donald Trump dismissed claims that the White House was upset about Chief of Staff Susie Wiles’ recent interview with Vanity Fair. Bash mentioned she texted Trump to clarify that he wasn’t, in fact, “upset” as suggested by CNN’s on-screen graphic.
The graphic claimed, “The White House is upset by the Susie Wiles interview.” However, while speaking, Bash was seen looking down, indicating that she was receiving messages from Trump associates contradicting that statement. “They’re saying that’s not what’s going on. It’s an exaggeration of the situation,” she explained to CNN political director David Chalian.
Bash expressed that Wiles, described as unfiltered, has a strong reputation among both Trump’s circle and even some Democrats who work with the administration. “I’ve never met anyone in Trump’s world, and frankly even some Democrats, who doesn’t think highly of Susie,” she noted, calling her a “straight shooter” essential for the President.
A two-part interview with Wiles in Vanity Fair featured her candid thoughts on Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and others in the administration. She controversially described Trump as having an “alcoholic personality,” suggesting that people with such traits might amplify their characteristics when drinking, revealing her personal insights into big personalities.
Wiles also indicated that with midterm elections approaching, they were geared up for a vigorous campaign, suggesting that Trump would approach it as if it were the 2024 elections. She reflected on Vance, describing him as a “conspiracy theorist for 10 years” who aligns with Trump, noting her past criticisms of him were primarily political.
After the Vanity Fair piece was released, it appears there has been a unified front from Trump’s administration, defending Wiles and suggesting that the original narrative presented by CNN was misrepresented.
