Tragic Discovery in the Reiner Family
Romy Reiner received the devastating news of her mother’s murder after she found her father’s body at their home in Los Angeles. The incident unfolded when a massage therapist contacted her, mentioning a family friend was not responding at the door.
Romy, the youngest daughter of Rob and Michelle Reiner, hurried over to their Brentwood mansion on Sunday afternoon. Living just across the street, she opened the gate with her roommate to check on her parents and discovered her father, a well-known director, deceased.
Panic set in as she fled the home to have her roommate call 911 while she reached out to her father’s close friend, Billy Crystal, for support.
A source close to the family revealed that Romy only learned of her mother Michele’s fate after emergency personnel arrived. It was reported that she hadn’t seen her mother’s body.
Crystal quickly arrived at the scene with his wife, where they encountered the shocking reality of the situation. A law enforcement source indicated that both Rob and Michelle were already in rigor mortis, having died several hours before Romy discovered them, likely in the early morning hours, well before 3:30 p.m.
Romy informed the authorities that her brother, Nick Reiner, was staying in a guesthouse on the property.
Nick, who is 32, was arrested later that day and charged with the murder of their parents. Friends of the family expressed that they hadn’t noticed any recent signs suggesting Nick was capable of such violence, especially considering his long-standing struggles with addiction and mental health.
However, it emerged that just before the alleged crime, Nick had caused a significant disruption at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party, resulting in a heated argument that escalated tensions among the three of them.
Witnesses recounted that at the party, Nick had made intrusive comments to guests, which further highlighted his erratic behavior. He also apparently caused a scene at SNL alum Bill Hader’s holiday gathering when he interrupted a private conversation.
Sources hinted that his chaotic state might have been due to a recent relapse into drug use, as he had supposedly resisted further treatment after numerous rehabilitation attempts over several years.
A video surfaced showing Nick leading up to his arrest, purchasing a drink at a gas station shortly before he was taken into custody.
