Broncos Quarterback Bo Nix and His Dog Reunion

On Christmas Day, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix had some concerns about his dog. Earlier this year, there were mixed reactions when Kirk Herbstreit, an ESPN and Amazon Prime Video broadcaster, introduced his dog, Peter, to Nix, leading some fans to think Nix wasn’t too enthusiastic.

Before the Broncos secured their 12th win out of 13 games, Herbstreit arranged for a reunion between Nix and Peter. He shared on social media, “After @nflonprime #peter last time, I had to make it happen with @bonix10,” posting alongside images of the two.

Initially, Nix faced some backlash after that first encounter with Peter; some onlookers thought he wasn’t particularly fond of dogs. However, during the reunion, Nix opened up about his earlier feelings toward canines, mentioning a childhood incident that left him uneasy around them. “I think someone attacked me when I was a kid, but I didn’t know anything else about it,” he explained. His family wasn’t really a “dog family,” and they had only one dog during his childhood, which unfortunately passed away.

This season, the term “Dogs” has become associated with both Nix and the Broncos. After a victory against the Green Bay Packers, Nix proudly referred to his team as “overdogs.”

He’s even created an “Overdogs” apparel line, with proceeds benefiting the Denver Rescue Mission, which aims to alleviate homelessness in the area.

The Broncos wrapped up their Christmas Day game with a win against the Kansas City Chiefs, pushing their record to 13-3 and solidifying their lead in the AFC West. The team is set to face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 18 for the final game of the regular season.
