A teacher in Kentucky was arrested for allegedly sending explicit messages to a fifth-grade student, including one particularly disturbing remark that stated, “I want you to taste that taste.”
Sidney Graf, 36, worked as a math teacher at Smyrna Elementary in Louisville. His arrest occurred on December 15, while he was on his way to pick up a boy from his home. This came after he sent inappropriate messages during a virtual learning day, as detailed in court documents retrieved by various news sources.
The police revealed the concerning exchange only after the school district found out that a student under 12 had been exploited online. It was reported by WAVE.
Authorities noted that the messages included discussions of oral sex, and Graf allegedly planned to meet the child near her home to carry out sexual acts.
In one instance, he reportedly wrote, “I really want to taste that flavor,” according to police claims. People also reported on the case.
Evidence from the messages included screenshots and recordings showing the teacher’s face and name in the corner of the screen.
Following his arrest, Graf is said to have acknowledged sending the lewd messages. He faces charges related to orchestrating the exploitation of a minor electronically.
Following these accusations, the school moved Graf to a non-student role while the investigation was underway.
In a message to families on December 16, Principal Amanda Cooper outlined that, per JCPS protocols, staff members will be reassigned and won’t have any contact with students as the inquiry progresses. She expressed understanding of the anxiety such incidents can invoke in students and families, assuring that their mental health team is available for those who may need support.
Graf, who pleaded not guilty during his arraignment, was given a bail set at $100,000. He is prohibited from contacting the victim or using social media, as noted by WLKY.
He has since posted bail and is currently under house arrest, with a court appearance scheduled for January 26.
