NBA Game Erupts in Brawl Between Suns and Pelicans
Saturday’s match between the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Pelicans turned heated, sparking a notable confrontation.
In the third quarter, Suns center Mark Williams attempted to set a screen on Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado as Phoenix’s Collin Gillespie maneuvered through the play. Alvarado, trying to evade the screen with his hands, was ultimately called for a foul.
There was some back-and-forth as Alvarado voiced his grievances directly to Williams after a nudge from the center. Things escalated quickly—Alvarado landed a right hook, and Williams retaliated in the fracas. Both teams stepped in to break it up, leading to the ejection of both players.
Despite the brawl, the Suns secured a victory with a final score of 123-114, bringing their season record to 18-13. Williams contributed 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds in just 11 minutes. Devin Booker stood out for the Suns, leading with 20 points despite shooting 6-for-18.
On the other side, the Pelicans dropped to 8 wins and 25 losses. Alvarado managed to score seven points and snag two steals in 14 minutes, while Trey Murphy III was the top scorer for New Orleans with 24 points, shooting 6-for-12, including six three-pointers. Derrick Queen also chipped in with 21 points.
Looking ahead, the Suns will continue their road trip against the Washington Wizards on Monday. Meanwhile, the Pelicans are set to host the New York Knicks on the same night.
