Transfer Portal Takes a Twist
The transfer portal has taken another unexpected turn.
Grant Seagren is gearing up for an official visit to Oklahoma State University to consider his options. While it’s pretty standard for players entering the portal to visit schools, Seagren’s situation stands out since he played for the Cowboys just last season.
That’s right—this emerging offensive lineman is heading back to the very team he was with not too long ago.
Originally from Nebraska, Seagren started as a tight end. Notably, he was rated as a two-star recruit but didn’t attract any scholarship offers after high school. Instead, he opted for the University of Nebraska, where things didn’t quite pan out academically. When he arrived on campus, he wasn’t exactly sure where he would fit in.
On his very first day of practice, the Cornhuskers decided to place him with the offensive line group.
This decision was pivotal; the 6-foot-6, 255-pound athlete transitioned to the tackle position. He chose to redshirt that year and participated in seven games during his 2024 redshirt freshman season, helping him gain experience amid the position switch.
Eventually, Seagren entered the transfer portal for the first time.
He decided to join Oklahoma State, where he had once been a walk-on. Throughout the 2025 season, he stood out, playing in every game for the Cowboys at a solid weight of 311 pounds.
However, after the firing of head coach Mike Gundy, Seagren reconsidered his future with the Cowboys and once again entered the transfer portal.
His background in college football has been quite the ride. Currently, he’s recognized as the second-highest rated offensive tackle in the portal. Four schools are now in the running for his commitment.
Next week, Seagren is set to make his third official visit in a row, although the specifics of his trip to Arkansas are still up in the air. Interestingly, he plans to revisit the program where he recently played.
- Auburn: January 2nd-3rd
- Oklahoma: January 3rd-4th
- Northwest: January 5th-6th
- Arkansas: To be decided
The transfer portal is indeed a bit chaotic right now. Still, I think it’s great that Seagren is weighing his options and even giving OSU another look.
