LeBron James Sparks Controversy During National Anthem
Last weekend, LeBron James caught attention when he was seen moving about during the national anthem before the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings. Some observers noted his unusual behavior, suggesting he was perhaps practicing his golf swing instead of standing still as is customary.
Sports commentator Craig Carton didn’t hold back, criticizing James’ actions during his podcast on Monday. He expressed disapproval, saying, “If you want to ignore your coach, ignore your teammates, that’s on you. But don’t do it during my national anthem. Recently, he disrespected the anthem.”
Carton further elaborated, remarking on what he saw as a lack of respect for those who served the nation. “While the anthem played, your man, the so-called ‘King,’ thought it was the right moment to work on his golf skills instead of showing the proper reverence,” he stated, adding a touch of sarcasm about James needing practice.
FOX News Digital has attempted to reach out to James’ representatives for a response.

In other NBA news, Nikola Jokic suffered a knee injury, causing him to miss the entire second half of a game against the Miami Heat.
The debate around the national anthem has been a recurring issue in sports, particularly since Colin Kaepernick’s protests in 2016, where he took a knee in response to racial injustice. This issue gained further attention after George Floyd’s death, leading to more players, including James, kneeling during the anthem to make a statement. However, it seems James was not making a protest before the game against the Kings.
Ultimately, the Lakers secured a decisive 125-101 victory, with James contributing 24 points and five assists to the win.
