A star from the reality series “Life After Lockup” has been detained in Florida for reportedly hitting her husband and threatening him with a knife at their rental home. Authorities have shared details about the incident.
Zeliah Jones, known for her appearances on “Life After Lockup” and its spinoff “Love After Lockup,” was arrested Saturday following what began as a minor disagreement with her spouse that escalated quickly.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reported that during the argument, Zeruia, 33, allegedly struck her husband while he was looking at his phone in bed, trying to get some sleep.
She reportedly left the bedroom only to return and hit him multiple times, before heading to the kitchen to grab a knife. Family members staying at the Airbnb intervened, preventing her from going back to the bedroom with the knife, as per an affidavit.
While the husband didn’t sustain any injuries, deputies found sufficient grounds to arrest Zeluia. The situation was classified as domestic violence, given that the couple is married and has two children together.
Interestingly, the affidavit refers to the husband as “Dale Jones,” whereas Zeruia’s husband is named Troy Jones. It’s unclear if “Dale” is a placeholder or if another individual was involved.
Zelleia was released on Monday after posting a $2,000 bail. She faces a misdemeanor charge for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
Recently, Zeruia and Troy, who wed in 2021, posted on social media about their family vacation and shooting for “Life After Lockup” in West Palm Beach over the Christmas holiday. They even hosted a meet-and-greet at a hookah bar the night before the alleged incident.
Troy, originally from Buffalo, New York, has a history of criminal possession and attempted robbery. Zeruia actually met her previous husband while visiting her cell neighbor during her time in prison.
Addressing the accusations, Zeruia was quite vocal, stating, “Nothing can break me! That’s the status and you can stop lying because nothing is right,” on her Facebook.
However, she later issued a more formal statement denying any wrongdoing. “I want to be clear: I am not attacking my husband. Any allegations suggesting otherwise are false. I am innocent and I will prove it in court,” she wrote.
Zeruia also mentioned her intention to step back from any work involving children while the case unfolds. “I love Troy with all my heart. There’s really no need to explain what’s understood,” she added.
Troy also denied the claims that Zeruia wielded a knife, asking followers to disregard rumors. “You idiots just sit there and laugh at the idea that my wife tried to do something to me,” he expressed on Facebook.
As for their current situation, Troy informed followers that Zeruia is now settled back in their home, enjoying home-cooked meals and a new dog. He had a somewhat defiant tone in his Tuesday update.
Zelya’s next court appearance is scheduled for January 26th.
