Lane Kiffin receives $500K bonus for Ole Miss's Sugar Bowl win against Georgia

Lane Kiffin’s Impact on Ole Miss’ Sugar Bowl Victory

Though Lane Kiffin has stepped down from his role at Ole Miss, he still keeps an eye on his previous team’s performance in the College Football Playoff. In an exciting turn of events, the Ole Miss Rebels showcased their resilience by defeating No. 3 Georgia 39-34 in Thursday’s Sugar Bowl. Trinidad Chambliss threw for an impressive 362 yards and two touchdowns during the game.

“A lot of people doubted us before the season, and they still doubted us after Coach left,” Chambliss shared after the game. “We just want to play ball and have fun, and I think that’s really showing right now.”

Kiffin expressed his happiness with the Rebels’ victory through a social media post, where he wrote, “Great finish!!! So much fun!! Only two more to go,” tagging the Ole Miss football team.

While Kiffin’s enthusiasm seems genuine, there’s also a financial angle at play. If the Rebels keep winning, it will enhance Kiffin’s earnings significantly.

Reportedly, part of the agreement when LSU hired Kiffin involved him receiving the complete bonus structure from his former position at Ole Miss. Initially earning $150,000 for helping them reach the playoffs, that figure jumped to $250,000 following their win against Tulane in the first round. The recent triumph over Georgia has now increased that bonus to $500,000. Should Ole Miss progress to a semifinal win against Miami, Kiffin would see his total rise to $750,000.

And what about the ultimate prize? If Ole Miss clinches the championship title, Kiffin stands to gain a whopping $1 million.
