Recent court documents reveal that Ray J allegedly pointed a gun at the mother of his children during a family Thanksgiving get-together, which stemmed from a drunken argument about their kids.
Ray J, whose real name is Willie Norwood, has been barred from seeing his ex-wife, Princess Love, and their two young kids, Melody and Epic, after he was arrested for bringing a firearm into the situation and was subsequently issued a domestic violence protection order.
This incident gained attention because it was broadcast live on Twitch.
According to documents outlining a request to change the protective order, Love and her friends were invited to Norwood’s home in Simi Valley, California, for Thanksgiving and stayed overnight with their children. However, after the kids went to bed, both Love and her friend were reported to be too inebriated to drive.
The altercation reportedly began when Princess Love attempted to take the children from their room. The filings indicate that she and her male companion were armed in an effort to stop Norwood from physically removing the kids from the house.
Princess Love is now petitioning the court to allow her access to her children, seeking adjustments to the existing protective order.
Norwood’s lawyer, Alex Kessel, expressed in court that there was no justification for separating Norwood from his children, emphasizing that this situation occurred while he was looking after them.
Kessel also noted that Princess Love is open to Norwood seeing the kids and is willing to testify in his support, mentioning the importance of her presence as evidence in the case.
While Princess Love was not available for comment, it was reported that Ray J was taken into custody on Thanksgiving night after a concerning Twitch livestream, where he was seen and heard engaging in a heated argument with her, during which he claimed to have pointed a gun at her.
Furthermore, during the confrontation, Ray J allegedly threatened to harm an unidentified man who was also in the home.
With audible frustration, Ray J referred to the situation as “DUI, Princess,” indicating his concerns about the level of intoxication among those present, including Love and her cousin.
In February 2024, Princess Love filed for divorce from Ray J once again, marking their fourth attempt to sever ties since their ongoing struggles began in May 2020.
The hearing saw support from Norwood’s family, who requested delays, affirming their dedication to his well-being.
