Ex-Viking Jack Brewer Claims He Has Seen the Results of Fraud in Minnesota

Concerns Raised Over Somali Influence in Minnesota

Jack Brewer, a former Minnesota Viking, has expressed his views on the changing dynamics in the state, particularly noticing “elite” scammers purchasing luxury items from the Somali community. In an interview, he shared observations from a Twin Cities luxury car dealership that he was familiar with during his time as an athlete.

According to Brewer, the clientele at the dealership has shifted significantly. “Now, if you go there, some of their main customers are Somali scammers who buy luxury cars in a state that has only four months of sunshine,” he remarked. He further commented on the lifestyle of these individuals, noting their flashy sports cars reminiscent of affluent areas like Beverly Hills.

Recent reports have identified Minnesota as a center of alleged fraudulent activity linked to various federal programs. This has led to increased scrutiny of Governor Tim Walz and his administration concerning accusations of widespread social welfare fraud, much of it reportedly involving members of the Somali community.

Brewer acknowledged that while immigration can be beneficial, it relies heavily on successful assimilation. He referenced his wife’s background, stating that her immigrant family from the Middle East became fully integrated into American life. “They embraced their new home,” he said, leading him to feel more patriotic.

Having joined the Vikings in 2002, Brewer played in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area during a time when numerous Somali refugees were arriving due to the civil war in Somalia. “I saw Somalis coming there in droves,” he said, observing their gradual integration into Minneapolis.

He noted their cultural impact, mentioning how public figures often showcase their heritage in ways that might seem more supportive of Somalia than the United States. “You turn on the TV and see a mayor promoting a foreign flag,” he commented. He also pointed out the prominence of Islamic culture in the area, indicated by the sounds of Islamic calls to prayer.

Political engagement within the Somali community has grown, with various Somali politicians, including Rep. Ilhan Omar, gaining visibility. Brewer characterized this involvement as tied to using federal resources for political campaigns and other local initiatives, advancing their community’s interests at the expense of American taxpayers.

On a personal note, Brewer, who has a background in Christian faith and runs the Jack Brewer Foundation, mentioned that he has relocated his business interests from Minnesota to Florida, influenced by the events following George Floyd’s death. “I exited many of my investments in that state,” he explained.

Initially supportive of Barack Obama’s campaign, his political views appear to have shifted significantly. In 2020, he was involved with the Black Voices for Trump, showcasing a notable change in his political alignment.

In response to Brewer’s comments, some Somali residents have criticized his portrayal, arguing that it unfairly represents the community. They assert that only a small fraction are involved in fraudulent activities, and this does not reflect the larger group.

While Brewer acknowledges and supports patriotic Muslims, he now advocates for stricter immigration controls until fraud is addressed. “Until we uncover the depth of this fraud and corruption, I am going to freeze all immigration,” he concluded.
