Trump Suggests Possible Military Action in Colombia and Mexico

President Donald Trump has indicated that Colombia and Mexico could be potential targets for U.S. military intervention, especially following the recent detention of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. This development has added to the regional instability as Bitcoin sees an uptick.

On Sunday, Trump raised concerns about the ongoing cocaine trade from Colombia into the U.S. He even hinted that Colombian President Gustavo Petro might be the next leader captured by U.S. forces.

“Colombia is also very sick,” Trump said. “It’s run by sick people who like to make cocaine and sell it to the United States, and it won’t last long.” He expressed his view that military action might be a viable option, adding, “I think that would be a good thing.”

In a recent exchange, Trump was pressed on whether the U.S. might initiate operations in Colombia. He reiterated his perspective, stating, “I think that’s a good thing.”

While Trump has maintained a friendly rapport with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, he has expressed dissatisfaction with Mexico’s approach to drug cartels, asserting that “we have to do something in Mexico.”

The U.S. is also observing the situation in Cuba, which is allied with Venezuela. Trump characterized Cuba as a failing state “ready to collapse” following the cutoff of oil supplies from Venezuela.

In the midst of these developments, Maduro’s overthrow occurred before the cryptocurrency market had a chance to react. Following the military operation in Venezuela, Bitcoin (BTC) rose by 3.35%, jumping from $89,990 to $93,000, as noted by CoinGecko.

Market analyst Crypto Rover pointed out that unlike previous conflicts that led to prolonged market panic, the situation in Venezuela resulted in minimal disruption since the action against Maduro was taken swiftly.

Aside from geopolitical issues, Trump has expressed ongoing interest in Greenland, considering it essential for U.S. national security. However, Danish and Norwegian officials have firmly stated that the mineral-rich territory is not for sale, urging Trump to cease his aggressive rhetoric.
