Ashley Tisdale Reflects on Mom Group Dynamics
Ashley Tisdale has opened up about her experiences with a star-studded mom group that includes Hilary Duff, Meghan Trainor, and Mandy Moore. In a heartfelt essay on “The Cut,” she described feeling the sting of exclusion within the group, which she characterized as harboring “toxic” behaviors.
Tisdale, a former Disney Channel star, recounted her feelings of inadequacy after being cut from a social gathering within the mom group. She described the moment as confusing and somewhat emotional, noting that it felt wrong to be left out. In her words, “My daughter is in bed… I’m completely lost as to what’s going on.”
Following her feelings of discomfort, the 40-year-old actress decided to send a message to the group expressing her discontent, stating, “This is too high school for me, and I don’t want to be a part of it anymore.”
While she acknowledged that she never viewed her mother negatively, she admitted that the situation with this group drove her to disconnect. It seemed clear to her that the relationship had soured, leading her to reevaluate her connections.
Tisdale reflected on the group’s dynamics, noting instances of exclusion that contributed to a heavily clique-driven atmosphere. As she put it, they had group chats where not everyone was included, which fostered a sense of isolation. Seeing social media posts of gatherings she wasn’t invited to was particularly painful, making her feel, to some extent, like an outsider.
Although she didn’t disclose exactly who the other members were in her critiques, she has since unfollowed Duff and Moore on Instagram, while still maintaining her connection with Trainor. It seems there are complicated feelings about both the past and present.
Representatives for Duff, Moore, and Trainor have yet to respond to inquiries regarding Tisdale’s essay. The mom group has attracted attention over the years, particularly with Duff previously expressing the importance of their tight-knit bond as mothers navigating similar experiences.
In her past comments, Duff highlighted that despite their celebrity status, their common ground is their love for their children. It’s interesting how the realities of motherhood can bring together even those in the public eye, yet it appears that such bonds can be fragile and, at times, painful.
