Machete-Wielding Man Shot Dead by Police in New Jersey

A man armed with a machete was fatally shot by police during a tense encounter at a home in Piscataway, New Jersey, on Monday night. Following the incident, authorities discovered three bodies inside the residence.

According to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, police received a 911 call around 5:30 p.m. about an individual with a knife at a house located on River Road.

Upon their arrival, officers were confronted by an unidentified man who charged at them with a large knife, later identified as a machete.

Reports indicate that when the man approached law enforcement, officers attempted to use a Taser, but their efforts were ineffective. The suspect continued to advance while brandishing the machete and was ultimately shot and killed by police.

After the shooting, three unidentified individuals were found deceased inside the home. Two of these victims were reported to be grandparents, but details regarding the other victims remain unclear, including the relationship between them and the suspect.

The exact cause of the deaths has not yet been determined. As for the situation overall, it appears to be isolated, with no ongoing threat to the surrounding community, according to a statement from the Piscataway County Police Department.

New Jersey PBA President Peter Andreev expressed condolences, acknowledging the tragic event. He noted that all involved law enforcement personnel are currently being evaluated.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, alongside the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, will be conducting an investigation into the incident.
