Tragic Deaths of Ohio Dentist and His Wife Investigated
Before a dentist and his wife were discovered shot in their Ohio home, a 911 call was made from the same location to report what was described by dispatchers as a “domestic dispute.” The caller hung up initially but then explained to the operator, “Me and my guy got involved,” according to recently released records.
On December 30, police arrived at a Columbus residence around 10 a.m. to find 37-year-old Spencer Tepe and 39-year-old Monique Tepe dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Their young children were inside the house but unhurt. Authorities do not suspect suicide, noting there was no forced entry and no weapon was recovered.
Fox News Digital acquired the 911 call made by an unnamed woman at the home where the Tepe couple was killed. During the call, she was heard crying and insisted there was no need for police assistance. The call took place at 2:45 a.m. on April 15, but the caller’s identity isn’t mentioned in dispatch records.
Details of the 911 Call
Operator: “Hello, this is 911. My phone just went off. Are you okay?”
Female voice: “Yes, sorry. It’s okay.”
Operator: “Are you serious?”
Female voice: “Yes, yes, it’s okay, I’m sorry.”
Operator: “Well, it looks like she’s crying. Do we need the police or paramedics or something?”
Female voice: “No, no, it’s okay, I promise. I’m just emotional.”
Operator: “So, why did you call 911 in the first place?”
Female voice: “Because me and my husband got caught up in it. But I’ll be fine, I promise.”
Operator: “Have you ever been into anything physical?”
Female voice: [Crying] “No.”
Operator: “You guys were just arguing and no one hit each other?”
Female voice: “Hmm, that’s right.”
Operator: “Well, I’ll tell the officers to stop going to your address…if anything changes, please call me back.”
Female voice: “Yes, yes, yes, I’m sorry…”
A dispatcher later categorized the call as a “domestic dispute” and concluded that assistance was no longer needed.
On Monday night, the Columbus Police Department released surveillance footage showing a “person of interest” walking in an alley close to the Tepe residence in the early morning hours of December 30. Investigators believe the murder happened between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. that day.
The first 911 call on December 30 came from Mark Valrose, the owner of Athens Dental Depot and Spencer’s employer, who was on vacation in Florida. Concerned co-workers reported that he had not shown up for work, which was out of character for him.
“He always shows up on time and calls us if there’s a problem… We’re very, very worried. This is very insane, and we can’t reach his wife, which is even more troubling,” Valrose remarked.
At 10:03 a.m., a friend of Spencer’s made a 911 call reporting a body inside the Tepe home. “There’s a dead body,” the caller said. “Our friend didn’t answer the phone. We just did a check, and it looks like he’s dead. He’s lying next to the bed, covered in blood. We can’t get any closer to see him.”
The family of the Tepe couple expressed their heartbreak, calling the deaths “tragic and senseless.” In a statement, they described Spencer as a devoted father and a warm-hearted friend. Monique was remembered as a “loving, patient, and fun mother” whose warmth was truly defining.
Rob Misley, Spencer’s brother-in-law, mentioned that the couple married in 2021 and were about to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary next month.
