Carnell Tate Declares for NFL Draft

Ohio State’s wide receiver Carnell Tate has decided to enter the 2026 NFL Draft. The junior shared his decision on social media Tuesday night, expressing his thoughts on this next step in his career.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to take the next step in my career and declare for the NFL Draft,” Tate remarked, while also expressing gratitude to his family and coaching staff. “I am proud of everything I accomplished at Ohio State University and will forever carry the lessons, relationships, and memories I gained from this program.”

This past season was particularly impressive for Tate, who racked up 875 receiving yards and nine touchdowns over his three years with the team.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. has noted that Tate is projected as a top 10 pick in the upcoming draft. In total, during his three years in Columbus, he accumulated 121 catches for 1,872 yards and 14 touchdowns, contributing to the team’s 2024 national title.

Reflecting on his time at Ohio State, Tate said, “Riding the Buckeye was an amazing ride that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Since day one, I’ve dreamed of playing for this program, and it’s a dream come true. This program has pushed me to be the best I can be, taught me how to compete at the highest level, and given me memories and relationships I’ll never forget.”

He extended a heartfelt thank you to Coach Hartline, Coach Day, Coach AT, and others for their guidance and support, noting how their lessons—both on and off the field—have made a positive impact on him.

Tate also acknowledged the significance of being part of Zone 6, the group of premier wide receivers at Ohio State. He thanked his teammates for pushing him to grow in various aspects of his game.

Ohio State has a strong track record in producing top draft talent at the receiver position, with five players drafted in the first round over the past four years, including names like Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave.
