Incident at Chelsea City Hall Involving Pressley’s Husband

The husband of Representative Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), who has a felony conviction, found himself in a tense encounter at Chelsea City Hall on Monday. A reporter attempting to pose questions regarding alleged child care fraud in Minnesota was met with resistance when Pressley’s husband, Conan Harris, knocked the reporter’s cellphone from their grasp.

In a recording of the incident, the reporter can be heard asking, “Congressman Pressley, do you support it?” while approaching Pressley, who was accompanied by Harris. The phone was subsequently knocked out of the interviewer’s hand, prompting them to protest, “Sir, you can’t take my phone out of your hands.” After a brief moment, the phone was retrieved, and they tried to refocus on the situation. Harris had previously served ten years in prison for drug trafficking, and Pressley has mentioned her experiences in helping others who are incarcerated or have been released.

The altercation unfolded at City Hall in Chelsea, Massachusetts.

After the incident, as the reporter attempted to reconnect with Pressley, they rephrased their query: “Congressman Pressley, do you support President Trump investigating the Somali child care fraud in Minnesota?” This question was posed as Pressley, flanked by aides, walked away.

This incident coincided with the Trump administration’s announcement of a significant $10 billion freeze on federal funding for child care across five predominantly Democratic states. These states—California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, and New York—are under scrutiny due to reports of social services fraud linked to the Somali community in Minnesota.

An official from the Office of Management and Budget indicated to Axios that the funding halt is related to both fraud concerns and potential funding for illegal immigrants.

Pressley did not provide a response to inquiries from Fox News Digital regarding this matter.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk, who formerly served in Trump’s administration, remarked that the fraud occurring in states like California, New York, and Illinois appears to be much more extensive than in Minnesota. He estimated that fraud across the nation could represent roughly 10% of the federal budget, translating to about $700 billion annually.
