Trump Responds to Diddy’s Pardon Request
President Donald Trump recently confirmed that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs reached out for a pardon but stated that he is not considering the request. Trump mentioned that Diddy “asked me for a pardon” via a letter, although he didn’t disclose when it was sent, according to reports.
“Oh, would you like to see that letter?” Trump remarked, yet he didn’t present the document. Ultimately, he declined to grant the rapper a pardon, leaving the details of the letter unknown.
This marks the first occasion Trump has publicly acknowledged receiving the letter, even though he had previously indicated that Diddy sought leniency. When queried by the media about the letter, the White House referred back to Trump’s statements.
The Daily Caller sought comments from Combs’ legal team regarding the letter’s contents and Trump’s decision.
Diddy was convicted in July 2025 for charges related to transportation for prostitution but was found not guilty of more serious accusations like sex trafficking and extortion. He was sentenced to 50 months in prison that October.
The music mogul’s defense team filed an appeal in December, asserting that the judge’s decision was unjust, according to reports.
Trump noted that he had known Diddy prior to his presidential campaign, but their relationship soured during his political run. “We got along very well; he seemed like a nice guy, but I didn’t know him very well,” Trump stated, adding that Diddy became “very hostile” when he entered politics.
In response to questions regarding the pardons of other high-profile individuals, such as former Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro or former New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez, who faced bribery charges, Trump indicated he had no intentions of pardoning them. When asked about a potential pardon for former police officer Derek Chauvin, convicted of killing George Floyd, Trump mentioned he hadn’t been approached about that situation.
