John Mulaney Postpones Minneapolis Show After Shooting Incident

Comedian John Mulaney has decided to postpone his upcoming performance in Minneapolis. This comes in light of a recent fatal shooting during an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation, which prompted protests throughout the city.

Mulaney announced this choice on Instagram, citing concerns for safety following the shooting that occurred on Wednesday. He expressed his heartbreak over the situation, stating, “What is happening in your city is heartbreaking.” The comedian mentioned that postponing the show feels unfair to his audience, which makes this decision particularly difficult.

Despite his feelings of disappointment, Mulaney emphasized that it would be irresponsible to gather a large crowd under such dangerous circumstances. He conveyed to his fans, “Still, when the situation is so dangerous, we are reluctant to ask thousands of people to leave their homes, gather at a venue, and then go home every night.”

Mulaney’s performance was originally scheduled for April. He provided guidance for ticket holders, saying, “Tickets for this weekend will be accepted for Friday through Sunday, April 10th, 11th, and 12th. For any questions or refunds, please contact your point of purchase or Ticketmaster.” He sincerely apologized to those who might be disappointed, noting that while live comedy provides much-needed distraction, the safety of his audience is paramount.

His “Mr. Whatever” tour is set to continue with performances in St. Louis starting January 15th, along with more dates in Seattle and New York City.

The shooting that led to this postponement took place as officials attempted to arrest 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, who reportedly tried to use her vehicle as a weapon. Agents fired in response, leading to her death. No injuries to ICE officers have been reported, and the incident is currently under investigation.

Fans have largely supported Mulaney’s decision, with many expressing understanding and validation for prioritizing safety over entertainment during these challenging times.
