Jack Keene on Iranian Protests and Trump’s Warnings
Retired General Jack Keene, serving as a senior strategic analyst for Fox News, has provided a critical evaluation of the Iranian government’s situation amidst a crackdown on anti-government protests. He suggested that the Iranian regime should heed President Trump’s recent remarks.
“If I were in the Iranian regime, I would take President Trump seriously,” Keene cautioned.
On Friday, Trump emphasized on Truth Social that if the Iranian government resorts to violence against protesters, the U.S. is “locked, loaded, and ready to leave.”
His warning comes as protests against the regime enter their second week, with reports indicating that at least 44 demonstrators have been killed by Iranian security forces, as per the Iranian National Council of Resistance.
According to Keene, the current moment is the “most vulnerable” the Iranian regime has faced in 45 years, with no signs of recovery on the horizon.
He noted the seriousness of Trump’s statement, adding that this situation differs significantly from past protests. “The regime is failing to meet people’s social, political, and economic needs. Economically, they’re in dire straits without any hope of bouncing back,” he commented.
Keene also indicated that the regime’s military position is weakened. “They just lost in Syria. Their proxies are basically decimated,” he continued.
“This leaves them in a fundamentally vulnerable state, which is quite serious for the regime,” he said.
Keene connected his analysis of the Iranian regime’s standing to the ongoing protests. “When you face such scenarios, concerns for survival grow, leading to further dissatisfaction and a breakdown in trust and unity,” he explained.
When asked by Fox News anchor Bret Baier about the likelihood of a U.S. or Israeli strike supporting protesters, Keene didn’t provide a definitive response.
“I think we will take what the president says seriously,” he replied. “I can’t read their minds, but I’m listening closely to their words, and he’s very serious.”
He further reinforced his viewpoint by mentioning that the U.S. military plans to neutralize Iran’s nuclear enrichment capabilities by 2025. “If you consider the events of last year, anyone disregarding what President Trump is asserting now is certainly being reckless and irresponsible,” he concluded.
