Trump Supports Harbaugh for Giants’ Head Coach Position

President Donald Trump gave a nod of approval for the New York Giants to hire John Harbaugh, calling him a “great guy” in a social media message posted Saturday.

On Truth Social, Trump stated, “The New York Football Giants should hire John Harbaugh, without a doubt. And John, a great man, should get the job!!! President DJT.”

This isn’t the first time Trump expressed his thoughts regarding Harbaugh’s coaching aspirations. Earlier in the week, he urged NFL teams to act quickly in securing Harbaugh, stating, “Hire John Harbaugh, quick. He and his brother are total winners!!! President DJT.” The reference here is to Harbaugh’s brother, Jim, who is the head coach for the Chargers.

Trump’s comments come at a time when the ex-Ravens head coach is looking into possibilities, especially with speculation that he might take the helm at the Giants for the upcoming season.

According to reports, Harbaugh is spending this weekend narrowing his options to about three or four teams, planning interviews for the offseason. He’s been spotted reviewing film of potential quarterbacks, including Jackson Dart and Cam Ward.

Since his departure from the Ravens on Tuesday, the Giants have emerged as a likely contender for Harbaugh’s services. However, some challenges could arise. Reports indicate that Harbaugh, who earned $17 million per season in Baltimore, will expect a comparable salary and a strong investment in his coaching staff.

After being released, Harbaugh received calls from seven NFL teams in a brief window of 45 minutes. He learned about his release from Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti, shortly after a final meeting with the team.

Reflecting on his time in Baltimore, Harbaugh stated, “Well, I was hoping someday for a different kind of message on my last day here, and today that day has arrived. There is certainly some disappointment, but even more so, there is a sense of gratitude.”

He concluded with appreciation for the organization, saying, “Thank you to the owners and organization for being willing to bring in a head coach known for his special teams success. It’s a difficult thing to do. And I’m grateful for all the moments and years that have been etched forever. I hope for a tradition built on belief, always fighting, always believing.”
