Sheriff from Philadelphia Gains Attention for Warning ICE

Philadelphia Sheriff Criticizes ICE

Democratic Sheriff Rochelle Bilal of Philadelphia recently referred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as a “fake law enforcement agency” and even threatened to arrest its officers during a press conference.

This strong reaction followed the recent shooting of Renee Good by an ICE officer during an immigration raid in Minneapolis, which has intensified criticism of the agency among left-leaning politicians. Bilal commended Philadelphia’s Democratic District Attorney, Larry Krasner, who has pledged to take action against ICE agents accused of misconduct following the shooting incident.

In a passionate address, Bilal asserted, “Real law enforcement professionals are genuine, not the pretend officers of ICE, which I believe was created for the purpose of targeting American citizens. None of the real law enforcement professionals are hiding their identities or wearing masks!” She expressed gratitude for Krasner’s commitment to hold offenders accountable, emphasizing that anyone attempting to conceal themselves while committing crimes would face consequences.

“Law enforcement professionals do not shoot at moving vehicles. This wasn’t someone fleeing; she was just trying to stay safe,” Bilal added. In her view, the actions of ICE violate both legal and moral standards, and she refused to recognize them as legitimate law enforcement.

Cellphone footage from the incident shows Good reversing her car, looking at the officer, and accelerating after her wife urged her to drive away as ICE agents moved in. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem remarked on the situation, suggesting that the officer’s actions were in self-defense.

Bilal reiterated her strong stance against ICE, saying, “If any of you come to this city to commit a crime, you cannot hide. We will confront you directly.” She further expressed her disapproval of the current administration in the White House, hinting that their efforts to protect ICE agents would not succeed.

According to a report released on Thursday, projections indicate that assaults on ICE officers may rise by 1,300% in 2025, with vehicle-related attacks increasing by 3,200% and threats to agent safety escalating by 8,000%.
