Double trouble for In N Outs in Southern California as women use fake $100 bills to make off with burgers

Double Trouble at In-N-Out

Two women are causing quite a stir in California. Police reported that Auriona Lewis and Tatianna Foster, both from Long Beach, were involved in a scheme that involved using fake $100 bills at over 20 In-N-Out locations.

The Glendale police shared with local news that these suspects would enter various restaurants, ordering only the smallest items—like fries or the Flying Dutchman, a special item with just two patties and some cheese. Sergeant Gaik Povokian noted that this tactic allowed them to maximize cash returns on their change.

Surveillance footage captured one suspect, identifiable by her pink pants, making a purchase with a counterfeit bill at one of these burger joints. This scheme seemed harmless at first, but things took a turn on October 21 when an observant worker reported a fake $100 bill to the police.

Following this report, detectives dug deeper and found several similar incidents across Los Angeles County. Thanks to some quick thinking, officers pinpointed Lewis after reviewing gathered surveillance footage that included her license plate.

Foster was eventually identified and arrested on December 15. According to Poboquan, they likely caused losses in the thousands of dollars, which isn’t exactly pocket change.

It’s noteworthy that the counterfeit bills displayed the same serial number, raising further red flags. Lewis now faces charges of grand theft and forgery, which could lead to one to three years behind bars. Interestingly, when she was apprehended, she had a counterfeit bill that matched the one used in the October incident. Currently, she’s out on bail.

Meanwhile, charges against Foster are still pending, and her court date is set for later this month.
